Chairman and CEO of Monarch Quantum, where we focus on building the team, culture, and systems required to deliver world-class quantum photonics engines to our customers. We work hard to ensure our people have everything they need to do exceptional work, serve our customers with integrity, and turn ambitious ideas into reliable, scalable solutions.

My graduate work was in Physics and EE from SDSU and Stanford and I have had more than 25 years of experience commercializing advanced photonics systems. Over my career, I’ve had the privilege of co-founding and achieving exits for companies that translated cutting-edge science into impactful real-world technology, including New Focus and Daylight Solutions, where we helped pioneer and scale laser platforms into a variety of large markets in telecom and aerospace and defense.

I believe great causes make for great businesses. At Monarch Quantum, we combine deep technical excellence with a culture of servant leadership—one that prioritizes trust, collaboration, and customer success above all else. Our goal is not only to build leading quantum photonics technology, but to do so in a way that earns long-term confidence and partnership and makes a difference in the world. To lead is to serve.

Beyond Monarch Quantum, I am an active member of the SPIE community and the QED-C, supporting the broader advancement of the photonics and quantum ecosystems.

Outside of work, I’m most at peace—and having the most fun—on a mountain trail, on a board in the snow, or traveling with my wife and our growing family, ideally with good food, good conversation and a great bottle of wine.
